There was another earthquake in Japan this morning. It registered 7.1 in magnitude and the epicenter was about 225 miles northwest of Tokyo. Check out this link for details. It’s a rainy day here today (Sunday) and it’s quite windy out, so it was tough for me to distinguish the rumblings from the earthquake from the normal swaying of my building in the wind. However, as I was rolling out of bed and putting my shoes on for my morning coffee run, I definitely felt the floor swaying for a good 10 seconds. It was almost like the feeling one gets from sitting on a boat in moderately rough waters. If it kept up for much longer, I definitely would’ve gotten motion sickness! In any event, it wasn’t a violent movement, rather just a gentle swaying, unlike the somewhat hard shake I felt earlier in the week in my office (pictures rattled a good bit and nearly fell over). It’s interesting to see how everyone just takes these little jolts in stride and continues about their daily lives. Clearly they are quite used to it, but you always hear people talking about how it’s just a matter of time before the “big one” hits. Let’s hope that’s not anytime soon!
