At long last….

After much deliberation and angst, I’ve finally settled on a blog-hosting service. The aptly-named Blogger, a spoke in the wheel of Google’s quest for world domination, will serve as the host for my blog. This blog strives to serve several functions, including: 1) updating my friends and family of my whereabouts, news, etc.; 2) allowing me an opportunity to wax philosophical on myriad topics, ranging from sports to politics to religion to this week’s reason why I love/hate Japan.; and 3) providing a forum for an exchange of views and thoughts pertaining solely to what I deem relevant (one of the benefits of creating your own blog is that you get to play dictator). I hope you all find the contents of this blog to be both informative as well as entertaining. If you don’t, and it turns out that most of you end up not reading my posts, that’s fine too. The more time I have to spend on my dance moves, the better.

So let’s start with a quick tour of my blog. On the right hand side, you’ll see a number of different headings. Some of these are static while others are dynamic. For example, the quote will change weekly while the music/movie/book links will change on a sporadic basis. The music/movie/book links will direct you to a site that includes information on the relevant topic, most likely in the form of a review of some sort. The link to my photos will always be under the name Digbe Gallery. I will update photos on my gallery from time-to-time and will alert you of new uploads so that you know when to navigate to that link.

The overwhelming majority of my posts will be in the form of an expression of personal opinion. I fully expect that the majority of you will disagree with me much of the time, which is perfectly fine. I invite all of you to respond to my posts early and often. Ultimately, it is my hope that this blog will foster some witty banter and debate, so I’d love some feedback of both the good and bad variety. All I ask is that you post responsibly, keeping in mind that I’ve invited a broad range of people to read this. However, don’t let that censor your thoughts too much. I want honest and forthright opinion to wander the halls of my blog, and it doesn’t have to all be written with kid gloves.

So, without any further ado, and in the immortal words of a close friend that I like to call Vinny, let the games begin!
